February 2024 Fishing Report
We are now experiencing a nice warm up in February with great ice conditions and above average temperatures most days. The driving conditions on Crawling Valley Reservoir are fantastic with minimal snow cover making for easy access to most locations on the lake.
One important tip for ice fishing in early February is to consider downsizing lure size and presentations, as the fish can become very selective during mid-winter. Late February and March, is what we like to call March Mayhem! This time of year is typically when the large fish are increasing their calorie intake to get ready for the spawn. This is the time to get out and try for those larger Northern Pike and Walleye!
The ice conditions at Lake Newell are excellent right now as well with easy access to the lake from all locations. Please use caution at Lake Newell if venturing out on your own, as the ice can be thin in locations with gas pockets or underwater springs.
When you book one of our (Fully Guided Trips) our expert fishing guides are with you all day every step of the way making sure you are safe out on the ice. We are always moving and setting up our shelters prior to your arrival at different locations to stay on the fish as often as needed. Most importantly providing you with important technical information through the trip about how to best hook up with our Walleye and Northern Pike through the ice!
Customers are already booking dates for our open water fishing trips on Crawling Valley Reservoir and Lake Newell. These trips begin in early May and run until October 2024.
